ReplyDeleteMy ethnic heritage means very, very little to me - and yet it still shames me to see members of the Tribe act badly.
ReplyDeleteI have to examine that bias, I guess. It also bothers me when fellow sons of Native America sign up for the armed forces. I get all the reasons why people do things, in their own personal circumstances, and yet it bothers me terribly when former victims (especially those not really removed from the worst periods of oppression) sign up for duty in the next project of oppression.
I think I keep hoping that Jews, Indians, Blacks, women, etc ought to just plain know better.
Which is stupid, on my part.
Because the point of imperialism is the colonization of the brain...
