"...I'm also confident that the same ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit that the young people of Egypt have shown in recent days can be harnessed to create new opportunity, jobs and businesses that allow the extraordinary potential of this generation to take flight...."

You know who said these words, right? C'mon. You know. You don't want to believe it's true, because for chrissakes already, nobody can get it that wrong while mouthing words that gauche, right?

This dude cannot have that tin an ear, can he?

Well?

Of course he can. Of course he does.

Your fucking Nobel Laureate, friends, comrades and strangers:

Barack fucking Pendragon Obama.

Incroyable.

absolutely vital h/t to drip, by way of comments over Ethan's way.

Added in edit: I'd put good money and bad on any wager, with a spread and an over/under, that the liberal institutionalists would have a collective seizure if Dubya or Weepy McBoehner had said what Imperial Barack just blathered.

Alas, 'tis not to be. But, I'll take the odds on Yggles making it the center point of something stupid he writes over the next week...

  1. Hah, I came here specifically hoping you would have posted something about this, but figuring you probably wouldn't have had time yet. Well done.

  2. Sickening.
This offends me and every other truth seeker.
He has become a meaningless puppet jester in his own mind and time.
He is on a puppet string merry-go-round.
    One lie after another.
It has come to the point where he himself no longer knows or believes what he says.
    SICKENING.

  4. RZ,

Of course. It's just cribbed from a browser search I did after I wrote out the text.

And I agree - if a person has any loyalty to human truth, and human truths, Barack Obama has to be understood as an adversary, if not an enemy.

  6. Maybe it's just me, but I just can't get that indignant about shit like this anymore. Oh, sure, the guy's an arrogant, appalling, lying, hypocritical little shit, but it's reached the point where I can't help but laugh at him.

I remember last night... I was glued to Al Jazeera, waiting like everybody else for what we thought would be Mubarak's resignation speech, when the little headline caption pops up reporting Obummer saying that "we are witnessing history". I started cackling like a ninny -- not because he said anything funny in itself, but because it was such a totally inane, "no shit, Sherlock" kind of statement. Then, later on, the Al Jazeera "crawl" reports Obummer stating that "the people of Egypt are calling for change". I laughed so hard I almost pissed myself.

But then... they ran the clip of Obummer's remarks from the White House, and I damn' near spewed a mouthful of beer. That goddamn' pattern backdrop behind him, with the slogan "Winning The Future" printed all over it, sure didn't help any. Sonofabitch is lucky he doesn't owe me a new keyboard.

  7. Pardon my French, but what a douche!

I really want his greed and megalomania to become more overt in his last 2 years, so that people really learn the lesson that being exotic, "well-educated" and all that other stuff that yupweasels, liberals and progressives all love... means nothing, and what he actually does, what he actually promotes and safeguards and smoothly reasssures, is a totally inhumane perspective.

He's Gordon Gekko, Ivan Boesky, Michael Milken, Daniel Plainview, Averell Harriman, Andrew Carnegie, Andrew Mellon, John Rockefeller, and many others, all rolled into one smooth-talking, cool-resume-holding Velvet Stiletto for Robber Baron Capitalism.

    What a hero!

  8. Oh come on, why the cynicism? The Egyptians are all just dissent entrepreneurs!

  9. Charles,

Unfortunately, he has allies aplenty in the corporate press.

    dah_sab,

Do you hate me, or something? I actually clicked the link and read that. That's word poison I now have in my brain folds.

  10. Can I get entrepreneurial spirit in a can?

  11. No, only in boxes made wholly from post-consumer recycled content -- now with 25% more spirit!

Please accept my most sincere and heartfelt apologies.

Not unlike syrup of ipecac, the RadicalDandy may induce nausea in his victims.

Plus, he's kind of a dickhead.

  13. Have you guys ever read any Richard Morgan? he's a sci fi writer with some radical beliefs. Market Forces, a novel I could not finish because I found it too depressing, is actually dedicated to "The Victims of Neoliberalism." Anyway...Market Forces posits a world in which 90% has gone to hell. The elite corporations actually invest...entrepeneurially...i revolutions. In exchange for a percentage of your GDP, they will train, arm, and provide dierct support for your guerilla movement. Conflict Investment is the term.

  14. Brian,

IIRC, we had a discussion about Market Forces a while back. I think it was mostly positive.

Personally, great book. I avoided it for a while because I thought it was one of those radcapper randroid screeds dressed up as fiction.

    Me: dumb.
