Maybe it's just me, but I just can't get that indignant about shit like this anymore. Oh, sure, the guy's an arrogant, appalling, lying, hypocritical little shit, but it's reached the point where I can't help but laugh at him.

I was glued to Al Jazeera, waiting like everybody else for what we thought would be Mubarak's resignation speech, when the little headline caption pops up reporting Obummer saying that "we are witnessing history". I started cackling like a ninny -- not because he said anything funny in itself, but because it was such a totally inane, "no shit, Sherlock" kind of statement. Then, later on, the Al Jazeera "crawl" reports Obummer stating that "the people of Egypt are calling for change". I laughed so hard I almost pissed myself.
But then... they ran the clip of Obummer's remarks from the White House, and I damn' near spewed a mouthful of beer. That goddamn' pattern backdrop behind him, with the slogan "Winning The Future" printed all over it, sure didn't help any. Sonofabitch is lucky he doesn't owe me a new keyboard.

Have you guys ever read any Richard Morgan? he's a sci fi writer with some radical beliefs. Market Forces, a novel I could not finish because I found it too depressing, is actually dedicated to "The Victims of Neoliberalism." Anyway...Market Forces posits a world in which 90% has gone to hell. The elite corporations actually invest...entrepeneurially...i revolutions. In exchange for a percentage of your GDP, they will train, arm, and provide dierct support for your guerilla movement. Conflict Investment is the term.

Personally, great book. I avoided it for a while because I thought it was one of those radcapper randroid screeds dressed up as fiction.
