"Aren't you getting into the realm of having to justify the unjustifiable?"
Rarely, if ever, do you see an American journalist on T.V. asking those kind of questions, holding people's feet to the fire.
And from what little I've seen over the last few years, Al Jazeera does seem to have a wealth of real journalists. They also seem to report real stories (unlike the trivia and gossip that passes for news in the United States).
It's not schadenfreude (well, not exactly) that I want to see a journalist ask a real question of Barack Obama - but damn if it wouldn't be super pleasant to hear someone ask that question of the Nobel Laureate, when he next decides to rationalize fiat executions...
Wanting to see a journalist press Obama with questions regarding the ongoing crimes against humanity over which he presides on a daily basis is not schadenfreude. Rather, I would put a such sentiment closer to "justice", as it is rooted in the desire to see someone answer for the crimes they are committing.
Wanting to see the Nobel Laureate trip on his way to the podium before he launches into yet another narcissistic speech in which he feigns magnanimity is schadenfreude, but wouldn't that just be so perfect?
Druff, thanks for that link. That is a perfect example of why I have abandoned CNN "news"; they are so ridiculously absorbed in reporting American trivia and gossip---while there is REAL news to report both in America and abroad---that I cannot stand to visit their site anymore.

Ain't that the truth, Andromeda.

In case you didn't catch it when Greenwald posted it a few days ago, re: Al Jazeera vs. CNN:

Thx druff.
ReplyDeleteDidn't see that.
