Since I'm still trying to find some credible data for FWOAN, and still thinking about ASP's questions, a random list of books I've enjoyed, most of which someone, somewhere will hate:
Shantaram (please read this before Depp makes it into a movie, if you do), by Gregory David Roberts.
Q, by the collective Luther Blissett (now the Wu Ming Foundation)
Athens, by Christian Meier
Salt: A World History, by Mark Kurlansky
River of Gods, by Ian McDonald
Grass, by Sherri Tepper
To Reign in Hell, Steven Brust
Salammbo, Gustave Flaubert
To a God Unknown, John Steinbeck
Finite and Infinite Games, James P. Carse
McDonald's Brasyl was amazingly fantastic but for some reason I've never been able to get myself to read any others.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, I'm not ignoring your other post responding in part to what I said. I'm still thinking all that stuff through, and my brain only intermittently functions recently. I think this is about to change, though, and then you'll have a dialogue on your hands, buddy!
No problems, Ethan. I'm still trying to work my head around how to answer Sane Person without coming across as if I'm antagonistic to her outlook.
