Because I don't imagine Maduro has the coalition necessary to survive the coming intervention. An election is due halfway through April, and if Carpriles wins, he will begin to dismantle what the Chavistas have spent the better part of two decades building. And given the "basket case economy" assumed by the technocrats (see above post), neo-liberalization, privatization and the restoration of the old Castillo aristocracy are on the menu.
