"...it's not the training to be mean but the training to be kind that is used to keep us leashed best." ~ Black Dog Red

"In case you haven't recognized the trend: it proceeds action, dissent, speech." ~ davidly, on how wars get done

"...What sort of meager, unerotic existence must a man live to find himself moved to such ecstatic heights by the mundane sniping of a congressional budget fight. The fate of human existence does not hang in the balance. The gods are not arrayed on either side. Poseiden, earth-shaker, has regrettably set his sights on the poor fishermen of northern Japan and not on Washington, D.C. where his ire might do some good--I can think of no better spot for a little wetland reclamation project, if you know what I mean. The fight is neither revolution nor apocalypse; it is hardly even a fight. A lot of apparatchiks are moving a lot of phony numbers with more zeros than a century of soccer scores around, weaving a brittle chrysalis around a gross worm that, some time hence, will emerge, untransformed, still a worm." ~ IOZ

Nutshell

"The champion of transparency in state affairs says what happened between him and two women in Sweden is a private matter, and he won't return to face his accusers. But sex crimes are crimes against the state. Assange may be innocent, but he has a responsibility to answer to prosecutors."

(emphasis mine)

No doubt she'll become an anarchist in due time.  All the signs point that way, no? She's just harmonizing her mind modes to a future anarchism. I mean, like omigod, dude, it's right there between the lines...

Due total respect, I have to disagree with your premise. There is a huge difference between those in the private sector & those in the public sector who are using our tax dollars that require accountabililty.

There isn't a contradiction on what he is doing verses what corrupt politicians are doing with our tax dollars.

Besides, the 'sex charges' are what they used on those at Waco. It seems to work with the people as a smear tactic that could one day be used on you (or any of us).

Anonymous,

The failure is likely mine. I'm not advocating the quoted passage. I'm sarcastically snarking at it.

With respect,

Wanna know what a crime against the state is? When I swipe some pens from my civil service job.

As for It would be great if someone leaked emails and other communication that documented Assange's attitudes toward women isn't that kind of irrelevant concerning this action? Yikes.

Randal,

You are obviously not enlightened. From this authoritarian stance, anarchism shall bloom. Harmony demands it.

I seem to recall that the sex crime allegations were made before any victims were located. Remembering the child abuse allegations against Scott Ridder, these allegations make me leery. It's not sufficient to silence folks like Ritter and Assange, they must be utterly destroyed to preserve the opacity of the powers that be.

BBBB,

It could be completely true that Assange is a rapist shit. I don't know. If he is, and some bacchae with bullet shooters, or winged human erinyes armed with bats and knives, take him out, I'm cool. It's cool. The universe takes a momentary break from its headlong plunge into the Compleat Suckitude.

[I try to understand how someone becomes a rapist, for reasons very personal - but I don't feel a moment's pity when he gets what's coming to him.]

Or these allegations could be a way to walkerlindh and ritter Monsieur Assange.

Could be. Could very well be.

I'm really just snarking, on the other hand, about a sentiment I just encountered a short distance down the etherway, wherein someone who is very bright and often quite insightful made what I believe to be a completely unsupported and frankly wrongheaded assumption.

The quoted passage was a nutshell illustration of why it's so wrongheaded.

You can't count on feminists to be or become anarchists. Because they're not. Feminism - the actual stuff, not the ideal stuff - is largely liberal and capitalist.

Case in point, above.

Respect,

Jack

OK, I think I see the confusion I helped create here.

What I am saying is that there is no necessary theoretical conflict between trying to challenge a particular form of authority and believing it necessary to challenge all forms of authority.

On a practical level, the latter basically implies the former; e.g., I have a problem when "anarchists" claim to challenge "all authority" merely by holding these principles, whereas many "feminists" manage in their single-mindedness to effectively challenge at least one.

I think the role of anarchists is to encourage alliances between people challenging particular forms of authority in the hopes that we can coordinate what we are doing in order to better challenge all forms of authority. Because that is the only way it can happen.

Whether or not we can work with particular groups is something that has to be demonstrated in practice, not decided in advance on the basis of the superficial labels people attach to themselves.

I hope this is helpful.
