"...it's not the training to be mean but the training to be kind that is used to keep us leashed best." ~ Black Dog Red

"In case you haven't recognized the trend: it proceeds action, dissent, speech." ~ davidly, on how wars get done

"...What sort of meager, unerotic existence must a man live to find himself moved to such ecstatic heights by the mundane sniping of a congressional budget fight. The fate of human existence does not hang in the balance. The gods are not arrayed on either side. Poseiden, earth-shaker, has regrettably set his sights on the poor fishermen of northern Japan and not on Washington, D.C. where his ire might do some good--I can think of no better spot for a little wetland reclamation project, if you know what I mean. The fight is neither revolution nor apocalypse; it is hardly even a fight. A lot of apparatchiks are moving a lot of phony numbers with more zeros than a century of soccer scores around, weaving a brittle chrysalis around a gross worm that, some time hence, will emerge, untransformed, still a worm." ~ IOZ

And to be clear...

...we are already extinct. We just don't know it yet.

Speaking of which, and harking back to a few posts previous, like God, the space-time distinction is a human invention. Space, isolated by intellect, is grafted onto time. Time is thus seen as movement from A to B. But world is simply change, which needn't be movement at all.

If this is extinction, what is survival like?

Jack Crow was so prejudiced against women that he believed the human race had already gone extinct.

High Arka, by contrast, had such a high opinion of women that she believed humans and Earth would thrive, as long as one human female was left alive. And since she saw one, she knew everything would be all right.

Devin,

I tend to agree, with the caveat that I don't know if it can currently be demonstrated.

Arka,

Sure. If that helps you sleep at night. Then again, I don't posit women as the carriers of the burden of saving anyone.

...maybe some of them do not see it as a burden, but as a joy?

Maybe the thought of a child growing to discover, say, an enjoyment of playing the violin, is not only enough, but so colossally super-enough that it justifies creation.

If it's not, then what does it matter anyway? Is this a call to futility? If this is extinction, is there anything better than extinction, and if so, what is it? Did we ever have it? Can we have it again?

It's fine to say, "Gosh, things suck," but to pronounce the totality over is another beast entirely. We don't want to become Silber, and predict the end of the world every third month, do we?

Hope was the last plague out of the Box. It's okay to acknowledge that our existence is precarious, and that we've burned and pillaged our way into a climate which will scrub us from the planet.

It's healthy to admit that our elites have begun to triage billions, and that the human race is being redefined not as all-of-us, but as those-who-liberated-themselves-from-the-rest-of-us.

It's profoundly revolutionary, in fact.

Hope and pollyanna assertions to contrary are the hallmark of deeply reactionary thinking. Not unlike gender essentialism, or the notion that women are the future of our species salvation, as if we deserve continuity or endurance.

Women are the race, and they don't owe themselves or us survival. They just live. We men (and I suspect that includes you, Arka) are so much dross. Whether or not evolutionary selection sees fit to preserve us isn't my concern. I don't fucking care. My own life adds up to nothing, no matter how much importance I might personally place on revolutionary violence.

I'm okay with that.

I'm not okay with some jumped up essentialist insisting that I'm evil because I don't accept his notions of progress, or his tired teleology, or his hope-besotted replacement of gods with futurity.

Women are the master race? Men are impure trash? What does that sound like, to you?

So, if Obama drone-kills a bunch of three-year-old Pakistani boys, you're okay with that, because they're dross, right?

What if President Hillary Clinton sets up camps to gas men, once her scientists perfect asexual laboratory reproduction--is that okay?

Saying that a group of people are worthless trash is not revolutionary. It's the ideology of genocide. The path you are following, whether well-meant or paid, is what led different people, at different times, to righteously slaughter the impure. This is how evil is built: by declaring any given group valueless, the logical next steps are eliminating that group.

Give up your struggle, young corporal. There are indeed good Jews. The path you have chosen is a dangerous one. If you never gain power, you will live a life filled with impotent hate. If you do gain power, you will be like all tyrants before you.

Since you start off with a lie ("women are the master race") which utterly misrepresents what I wrote, Arka, we can stop right there.

Your schtick is beyond old, now.

Jack,
If you are Arka, you are a fucking genius.

A creation of point/counter point embodied in characters that would make Dostoyevsky take notice.

Good to have you back.

Jack Crow said...

d,

I'm not. I don't have enough genius, focus, emotional investment or time to play act my own opinions, never mind try to figure out how to play a dude pretending to be a lady, as is the case with Arka (I suspect).

But, thx for welcoming me back.

Jack,
Indeed. You would be playing the pigeon in your own chess game.

Arka,
This is how evil is maintained: by declaring a small-minded existentialism and reveling in the resultant joy of disregarding anything beyond its borders.
