"...it's not the training to be mean but the training to be kind that is used to keep us leashed best." ~ Black Dog Red

"In case you haven't recognized the trend: it proceeds action, dissent, speech." ~ davidly, on how wars get done

"...What sort of meager, unerotic existence must a man live to find himself moved to such ecstatic heights by the mundane sniping of a congressional budget fight. The fate of human existence does not hang in the balance. The gods are not arrayed on either side. Poseiden, earth-shaker, has regrettably set his sights on the poor fishermen of northern Japan and not on Washington, D.C. where his ire might do some good--I can think of no better spot for a little wetland reclamation project, if you know what I mean. The fight is neither revolution nor apocalypse; it is hardly even a fight. A lot of apparatchiks are moving a lot of phony numbers with more zeros than a century of soccer scores around, weaving a brittle chrysalis around a gross worm that, some time hence, will emerge, untransformed, still a worm." ~ IOZ

Peltier

The federal death state still holds this man:

Don't forget for a moment that the power of this government rests in the willingness of its hundreds of millions to ignore (or cooperate in) the incarceration of tens of millions of others, mostly poor, mostly brown, mostly demonized by a lap dog press.

I remember once, I think it must have been at the end of the first Bush's presidency when the usual brief news flurry about presidential pardons was going on, why no president has pardoned Peltier. "They must not want to" was his answer, as usual phrased to gently lead my thinking in the right direction.

there's an "asking my father" missing from that post between "I remember once" and the comma.

El Prezbot needs the FBI. Not the other way around, methinks.

So, as long as the feebees think Peltier should rot, the President (any President) will concur.

Rich walked, under Clinton. Because he presented no threat to the FBI. His narrative didn't embarrass them.

Even a pardon of Peltier which preserves the legal fiction of his guilt invites discussion of COINTELPRO.

Oh, yes, absolutely. Harder to understand when you're 10.

Rich was also Zionist, which helped, too.

I still remember the groundswell among progressives to encourage Clinton to pardon Peltier in late 2000, as if he would do it, and then give them a justification to say, see, Clinton wasn't really that bad.

And, then, Clinton pardoned Rich, and exposed the progressives for the expedient, powerless group that they are.

We already beat them aboriginals and stole their lands. "Fuck 'em," says Dad's Brother Samuel.

I can drive about 2 hrs south of me, and visit the Big Hole Battlefield site. You know what Uncle Sam memorializes there?

The loss of "American" lives. In a "massacre" -- by the "indians."

Almost makes a fella rethink his perspective, it does.

Remembering is resisting and, if we remember, then we’ll be free one day. Free of their mindset. Free of their theft. Free of their guns and their bombs. Free of their cages. Free to be who we are.

And free of their fear. That’s the truest freedom of all and true freedom is what this is really all about, not the illusion of freedom they offer us.

So don’t forget. Not ever.
