"...it's not the training to be mean but the training to be kind that is used to keep us leashed best." ~ Black Dog Red

"In case you haven't recognized the trend: it proceeds action, dissent, speech." ~ davidly, on how wars get done

"...What sort of meager, unerotic existence must a man live to find himself moved to such ecstatic heights by the mundane sniping of a congressional budget fight. The fate of human existence does not hang in the balance. The gods are not arrayed on either side. Poseiden, earth-shaker, has regrettably set his sights on the poor fishermen of northern Japan and not on Washington, D.C. where his ire might do some good--I can think of no better spot for a little wetland reclamation project, if you know what I mean. The fight is neither revolution nor apocalypse; it is hardly even a fight. A lot of apparatchiks are moving a lot of phony numbers with more zeros than a century of soccer scores around, weaving a brittle chrysalis around a gross worm that, some time hence, will emerge, untransformed, still a worm." ~ IOZ

Tornadoes in the Holy Land

Of course Putin rigged the elections. He's just more forthright about his shenanigans than the Republican-Democrats, who rig elections with "viability" and money, and all towards the same end, but haven't the decency to be equal to their actions.

Of course, Netanyahu's government is going to wait until the Obama Administration signs off on air strikes. There is so little difference between Israeli and American policy, you couldn't squeeze a molecule's width of ass gas between them. Tuesday's meeting has fuck all to do with restraining Israel. It's a matter of the kayfabe.

Of course, Rush Limbaugh is a misogynist pig-fucking geek hopped up on the power of self-regard and opportunist advertising. And? How is he different from Anthony Weiner, exactly?

Of course, the Shawnee, the Tsalagi, the Fox, the Chickasaw, the Choctaw, the Caddo, Kiowa, Osage and Pawnee peoples built scores upon scores of prefab housing towns on the open plains with no expectation that tornadoes might despoil the sky god's virgin paradise...

Well, they are both males. After that, I fail to see your point.

well, they're both creeps (but maybe that's what you meant by male lol)

i actually think the reason this is such a big story is that all the news anchors and cable tv robots can finally say slut on the air.

The comments are not being fed back in emails.
Another blogger has the same problem.
A friend of mine said that if there is a window that pops up for the comment section, then there is no [subscibe] button to hit.
You might want to check this out.
You can change the setting for the comment section.

Thunder,

Both Limbaugh and Weiner spoke and acted from a common assumption: that women exist to satisfy men. For conservatives, that comes all tied up in the quest for the perfect virginity. For liberals, it's no less fucked up for being "honestly" piggish.

RZ,

I can't find the option, but I'm also kinda blogger-stupid.

Mr. Kasper,

Was proud of that one my own damned self.

Brian,

Agree completely. Limbaugh made it salacious. Salacious is as good as murder red, when murders are in short supply. So, the news creeps run with the sex red, instead.

go to [design] - settings- comment-
then hit the - home page - instead of pop up window.
try that and see what happens.

Jack, unless I am sadly mistaken, Weiner sent pictures of his wiener to people who wanted it.

Limbaugh's been a giant sun radiating ignorance and bigotry for decades, while getting paid several fortunes for same.

If you want to fault Weiner for something, I'd pick his moral blind spot with regards to Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.

Jack's an idealist, in that he focuses on ideals. In ideals, Limbaugh and Weiner are the same. And many, many people see others as mere means to their, ahem, ends.

In tactics/style, they differed. Weiner acts as most men act--privately seeking gratification. Limbaugh acts this way and trumpets it. Perhaps we can identify each with the other. Depends on our value of public policy and philosophy.

I don't have any doubt that he thought they wanted it, but some of the women disagreed.

While I chaff at the notion that I'm an idealist, Cuneyt has the right of it, as far as my perspective goes.

And I think Happy Jack is right, but I'm too lazy right now to do the google fu. I remember (perhaps wrongly) that not all of Weiner's, er, recipients knew what he was sending them.

Jack, I'm not sure that liberal misogyny is 'honestly piggish', as you put it - the way I see it, it's wrapped up in as many layers of justification as conservative misogyny. If you want to unwrap it, you could start with the concept of meritocracy and the moral obligation to obey people who are smarter than you (for your own good, of course).

It's like those deconstructions of liberal hate for Palin etc: "how dare you not ally with us, you stupid bitch, after we've done so much for your gender!"

Phil,

I think I see what you're getting at, because the relation to the anti-conservative position cannot rightly be elided.

Still, what I meant to convey (poorly, poorly, as always) was that the so-called sexual enlightenment of liberals is just the same old misogyny celebrated as an honest sexuality.
