"...it's not the training to be mean but the training to be kind that is used to keep us leashed best." ~ Black Dog Red

"In case you haven't recognized the trend: it proceeds action, dissent, speech." ~ davidly, on how wars get done

"...What sort of meager, unerotic existence must a man live to find himself moved to such ecstatic heights by the mundane sniping of a congressional budget fight. The fate of human existence does not hang in the balance. The gods are not arrayed on either side. Poseiden, earth-shaker, has regrettably set his sights on the poor fishermen of northern Japan and not on Washington, D.C. where his ire might do some good--I can think of no better spot for a little wetland reclamation project, if you know what I mean. The fight is neither revolution nor apocalypse; it is hardly even a fight. A lot of apparatchiks are moving a lot of phony numbers with more zeros than a century of soccer scores around, weaving a brittle chrysalis around a gross worm that, some time hence, will emerge, untransformed, still a worm." ~ IOZ

The Courtiers

Imperial Barack has arrogated the authority to create a kill list, hand it off to his executioners, and have people put to death on his say so, without provision of evidence, without charge, without trial. Anywhere in the world. At any time.

But Digby wants us to worry about the Sarah and Michele Sideshow. The Obamaphile at EL wants us to scoff at the same women, or turn our sneers towards Glenn Beck. In a fit of beggaring the obvious in the service of the Party, OpenLeft gets breathless about the (get ready for it) leftward turn of the other corporate party.  BJ's John Cole thinks Erik Erikson is a bad dude. The creepy Shakescult wants us to fret, you guessed it, Glen Beck, Sarah and Michele and the terrible fact that the guy who really, really hates Nancy Pelosi is not being called a terrorist, you know, at the same time that Imperial Barack gets his kill finger flexing. Booman points his finger of doom at CNN, for failing to make ugly noises about Sarah and Michele's wayward base, while Yggie gets jiggy for Matthew Frum. Ezra Klein wonks out some procedural garbage, as TNR's Chait thinks the economy is getting better, and that libertarians should give up trying to get Democratic Party respect.

But none of these courtiers mentioned the fact that their presidential Lion, their eleven dimensional coolness guru has decided to out-Dubya little Poppet Bush.

No Public Witnesses in this list. Not a one.
